Make no mistake we are watching the dismantling of our federal government by private interests that are not in line with ours. The vast majority of the country.
I have been following politics since I was a teenager. I had a criminal law class in the 9th grade that impacted me greatly. The rule of law and as important our rights under the law. Rights upheld by law. Or so it would seem.
What is happening from the white house is nothing short of lawless and a complete miscarriage of our constitutional order. It is being softened with a veneer of “taking back our country” and “ending waste fraud and corruption”, when in the most absurd real world ironies of history, its the most corrupt people imaginable that are in charge of putting an end to corruption.
Well meaning, people are believing the lies that come out of the news outlets and the stupid online pundits and podcasters bloviating endlessly about things they have a superficial understanding of at best and distort reality to match their bizarre world view with a certainty that is laughable.
and they just take it in and accept it as gospel because?
because they for whatever reason have come to trust the sources they draw from and at some point, if they ever had to begin with, stop fact checking the crap and worse they repeat it to others, that trust what they say, and so it goes. and goes. and goes.
GOOGLE is a readily available tool that is very effective with, you know, finding info on things, from different sources, and you know, seeing how things line up. Using critical thinking to do an appraisal of your priors every now and again to make sure you havent veered off course and end up in an alternate reality that has no basis in fact.
Critical thinking is not simply combing the web until you find some narrative that suits your world view, as often the truth of a matter will not line up perfectly with what you want to believe. And if you build off of these preferences and not the facts you end up standing on a feeble and illogically conceived argument that collapses beneath the weight of any objective scrutiny.
it happens fast when you stop paying attention these days.
